Another year old

Another year
Of feeling older than the rest of my kids
Compounded by the fact that they are getting younger every year
Of supposing to be more matured than the rest
Of realising that I shouldn't be partying as much
Just wanting to remain status quo, perhaps at 21?
I wish!

Another birthday
Of blown candles
Compounded by the 24 candles on the cake
Of the fact that I have grown older
Of the realisation that I am not necessarily wiser
Just wanting to enjoy my uni life, perhaps at a post-grad level?
I wish!

Another age
Of unfulfilled wishes
Of broken hearts
Of unrequited affections
Of escaping the reality of the real world
Just enjoying the best years of my life with great friends and great experiences
I wish!
